Spent the evening researching and trying two paper-mâché techniques. I couldn’t decide if I wanted my students to cover a container or just use the container as a base. I like the covered container because I used fancy tissue thin paper and wouldn’t require painting after. The second piece is a cup wrapped in plastic wrap so I can remove the paper-mâché from it.
Then, I did this with white oil pastel and tempura on white paper – by the way painting over oil pastel doesn’t work as well as every art ed class had made it out to be – the oil pastel disappears! I used paper towel to wipe off the paint creating more of a stain than a crayon-resist.
