What Once Was.

Photobucket

I used to be envious of those woman that went to Girlspot at Club Gallery. I used to wish I could be cool and go hang out, dance, and get picked up at the local lesbian night. Unfortunately, most of my friends are male, there are few lesbian bars/nights in Providence, and  I can count on one hand how many “ladies nights” I’ve attended. Also, I’ve never been picked up at any of the “ladies nights” I’ve attended, so maybe they are not all I had hoped they would be.

I’m not sure how glamorous Club Gallery was on a Saturday night, but during the week when I would park near it for work, it looked pretty damn creepy even before they began demolishing the building.

After I spent some quality time with the half demolished former night club, I spent some quality time with some vacant properties on Broadway. First stop: Jerothmul B. Barnaby House “Barnaby’s Castle.”

Next stop was: Kendrick-Prentice-Tirocchi House aka “The Wedding Cake House” – not to be confused with the one in in Kennebunk, Maine.

Your Going to Love This.

I seen this sign on the storefront of what used to be the Peck Gallery on Federal Hill. It is definitely an attention grabber. I can’t wait to see what it is that I am allegedly going to love!

In a Hood

In honor of the past two snowy days, I created something rather winter-like.

The black pieces are from this sheet of weird vinyl stuff that I found at Rhode Island Recycling for RI Educators. It sucks to paint on and until now I haven’t had a use for it. It works well with glue and collage techniques and not much else.

I call this piece “In a Hood.”

Call Me.

I encountered something I haven’t seen in years  — a pay phone or maybe it was a telephone booth. Either way, there’s not much left of it. This archaic gem is located in a Duncan Donuts parking lot in West Warwick, Rhode Island.

Life and images

A family member had a health scare the other day, but is now fine. It is scary to think my family and people in general are so fragile and mortal. And sometimes we just up and forget! We’re so busy with our petty issues in life… like taking a nap, or Christmas shopping. When in the end, it isn’t going to matter. The people in your life and love are more important than anything. Your petty issues are just that. Your stuff is just that. It’s the people and the experiences with them and love – love, love, love – that is what we should surround and fill our brains with. And fuck those annoying other things that are like fruit flies pestering. Hell, even I get caught up in the stupidity. We all do… it’s time to break free and breathe, enjoy life. Enjoy the people in it! While its here to enjoy.

And… maybe one day I’ll find someone, to have a romantic relationship with, who can at least share that value, and they don’t list “texting” as a hobby (that should be a requirement).

For now I bring you some photos I took this afternoon…

Dismal Day

My afternoon off and I decided to spend part of it at the Bell Gallery. Parking was atrocious and I do not miss parking on the east side of Providence. I ended up parking about a mile away, at the end of Benefit Street. So not only did I look at some weird-ass art, but I also got a healthy inspiring walk. The walk was probably more exciting than the exhibit at the Bell Gallery (weird-ass art not included in the photos).

Today’s Classy Photos…

I found this flyer taped to the inside door of a stall in the ladies room. It amused me greatly. I also totally agree. Nothing is sexier than a bookworm.

This picturesque view was taken with my cellphone camera at an intersection on the Cranston-Providence line.

Views From Parsonage Street

Who says a dead end road overlooking the overgrown parking lots of a former gay club and some rat infested abandoned mill can’t be inspiring?!

Doom and Gloom on a Friday Morning.

On the way to class this morning, I couldn’t but help to be inspired by the the gloomy fog… suddenly, I wanted to capture everything I saw in a photograph. I took these in Situate and Cranston…
